COVID-19 Guidelines

Updated on 01 September 2021

We can finally open our courts and return to different normality, with specific measures needed to apply. With the guidelines issued by the Cyprus Squash Association, we resume operation with the plan presented below:

Access to the courts

Squash courts will only be open to players who have permission to use the premises. For the operation of the courts, at least one staff member should be present.

At this stage, training is allowed with the maximum number of persons to be set at four (4) per court, including the trainer/coach.

Following these new regulations, all athletes are obliged to have a SafePass for accessing the courts.

Who has permission?

Permission is given to any NSA registered members, junior athletes, and visiting players who have either reserved a court or has an appointed training session or a league match. In a different case, an appointment should be made. Please contact us!

The Nicosia Squash Association is obliged, to keep records regarding the users of the courts, for safety and tracing purposes. The records relate to the day and time of booking, as well as the name and contact number of all users, and will be submitted daily to the Cyprus Sports Authority by 13:00 on the day of booking. Those who fail to submit the Consent form will unfortunately not be able to access the courts.

Not feeling well?

If you feel unwell and experiencing symptoms, don’t come to the courts and inform your opponent and the League director and immediately consult your personal doctor.

If you have displayed symptoms of COVID-19 you can resume play if your COVID-19 test proves negative.

Limitation of occupancy – Maximum numbers

The number of players allowed into the Squash court and at the adjacent spectator area at any time should be limited, preventing large gatherings and ensure there’s sufficient space to allow players to remain two meters from one another.

The number of players allowed into the Squash court and any adjacent spectator areas is 8, with a maximum number of players inside a squash court of 4 players, including the trainer/coach. Maximum numbers should not be exceeded at any time.

NO spectators in the adjacent area are allowed.

Arriving at courts – Leaving the area

Players should arrive at courts a maximum of 5 minutes before their reservation and should leave the premises immediately and not more than 5 minutes after their reservation is concluded.

As maximum numbers should not be exceeded at any time, we are kindly advising all parents and guardians not to enter the area. All junior athletes may be escorted outdoors upon completion of training, and safely delivered to their parents or guardians.

Hand sanitizer stations - Personal hygiene

Hand sanitizer and handwashing stations will be available for players to use. At the assigned entrance of the courts, there will be sanitizer for players to sanitize their hands upon their arrival at the courts and should sanitize them regularly.

All players should clean their hands thoroughly on arrival and leaving.

Signs and markers

Signs are posted at the entrance to notify players that they should not enter if they have symptoms of COVID-19. Also, to make players aware of the physical distancing requirements, enhanced sanitation procedures, and any other instructions and limitations, as applicable.

Floor markings are also placed to indicate the expected 2-meter gap in spaces where more than 2 people may gather at any one time.

Training – games - reservations

Players may attend their training sessions, pre-appointed league matches set by the Association, and court reservation.

At this stage, training is allowed with the maximum number of persons to be set at four (4) per court, including the trainer/coach.

Athletes guidelines -  On-court practice

Athletes are obliged to follow the COVID-19 player's guidance and on-court practice.

Changing rooms - Showers
